Our Methodology

Overview

Persona quizzes are designed using principles from psychometrics โ€” the science of measuring psychological traits. While our quizzes are not clinical diagnostic tools, they are built on established frameworks from personality psychology. This page explains how we design, score, and deliver our personality quizzes.

Quiz Design

Each Persona quiz is designed following these steps:

  1. Framework Selection: We choose an established psychological framework as the basis for the quiz โ€” such as the Big Five model, attachment theory, or emotional intelligence research.
  2. Question Writing: Questions are written to measure specific dimensions of the chosen framework. Each question is designed to be clear, unambiguous, and relevant to the trait being measured.
  3. Option Design: Each answer option is assigned a score that reflects how it relates to the personality dimension being measured. Options are designed to be distinct and meaningful.
  4. Result Profiles: We create detailed result profiles that correspond to different score ranges. Each profile includes a description, strengths, growth areas, and practical implications.
  5. Review: The quiz is reviewed internally for clarity, fairness, and accuracy before publication.

Scoring System

Our quizzes use a trait-based scoring system:

  • Score Accumulation: As you answer each question, your selected option's score is added to a running total for the relevant personality dimension.
  • Dimensional Scoring: Rather than assigning you to a rigid category, most quizzes measure where you fall on a spectrum. For example, an introversion-extroversion quiz measures your position on that spectrum, not just "introvert" or "extrovert."
  • Result Matching: After all questions are answered, your total scores are compared to the result profiles. The profile that best matches your score pattern becomes your result.
  • Multiple Dimensions: Some quizzes measure multiple dimensions simultaneously, providing a richer and more nuanced personality profile.

Psychological Frameworks We Use

Our quizzes draw from several well-established frameworks in personality psychology:

  • Big Five Model (OCEAN): Measures five core personality dimensions โ€” Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. This is one of the most widely validated models in personality psychology.
  • Type-Based Systems: Quizzes inspired by MBTI-type frameworks that categorize people into personality types based on preferences across four dimensions.
  • Attachment Theory: Originally developed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth, this framework describes how early relationship patterns influence adult attachment styles.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Based on research by Daniel Goleman and others, measuring the ability to recognize, understand, and manage emotions.
  • Leadership Styles: Drawing from research on transformational, transactional, and servant leadership.

Limitations

It is important to understand the limitations of our methodology. Persona quizzes are designed for self-reflection, entertainment, and educational purposes. They are not clinical diagnostic tools and should not be used as a substitute for professional psychological assessment. Our quizzes are shorter and simpler than full clinical assessments, which typically involve hundreds of items and are interpreted by trained professionals. While our results are based on sound principles, individual results may vary and should be interpreted as general guidance, not definitive statements about your personality.

Continuous Improvement

We continuously work to improve our quizzes. Based on user feedback, new research, and internal review, we may revise questions, scoring, or result descriptions. This iterative approach helps us maintain the quality and accuracy of our assessments over time.
